Gonzalez joins the Pioneer coaching staff after volunteering at Ohio University. Her primary responsibilities included working with the Bobcats pitching staff. Before becoming a volunteer coach at Ohio University, Gonzalez worked as a Pitching Coach at both the Torrance Unified School District and at Lubbock Christian University, where she helped lead the team to back-to-back NAIA National Tournament appearances.
Prior to coaching at Lubbock Christian, Gonzalez played a short stint with the ASA Regional All-Stars where she was invited to play against the USA Olympic Softball team before they headed to Beijing in 2008.
As a player, Gonzalez finished her collegiate career at LCU where she led her team to 2008 NAIA National Softball Championship. The Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., native was a first-team all-region and all-Sooner Athletic Conference selection. She was a four-time SAC pitcher of the Week, and claimed the NAIA National Player of the Week. As a senior she ranked third in the NAIA with 38 wins and 342 strikeouts.
Before Lubbock Christian, Gonzalez played at Southern Utah University where she helped lead her team to the Conference Championship and a Regional Appearance. Gonzalez spent her first two seasons at Cypress Junior College where she received first-team all-American honors and was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame.
Gonzalez also played 12 years for her father Manuel Gonzalez’ Southern Cal Waves club team. She played middle infield and pitched, and made an appearance in the Canada Cup.
Gonzalez received her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from Lubbock Christian University in 2010.
