Mike Bielski became the sixth head coach of CSUEB men's soccer program in 2016, and enters his sixth year leading the Pioneers in 2021. He previously spent five seasons as head coach at Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colo.
In his first season in 2016, Bielski guided the Pioneers to an overall record of 6-10-2, which marked the program's highest win total since 2007.
At Otero, Bielski compiled a record of 72-24-5, won two National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region IX championships, and helmed a team that was consistently ranked among the top 20 in the nation.
He captured Region IX championships in 2013 and 2015 and made the regional finals four of the past five seasons. He is also a two-time Region IX Coach of the Year, transferring 30 players into programs at four-year schools during his five years.
Before his tenure at Otero, Bielski was named the first head coach of the men's soccer program at Monterey Peninsula College and spent four seasons building the program at MPC.
Prior to that, Bielski spent six seasons as an assistant coach at Cal State Monterey Bay, coaching the men's team from 2002-08 and assisting with the women's team from 2006-08. Bielski helped the Otters capture a Cal Pac Conference championship and reach the NAIA Regional semifinals twice, before assisting with the program's 2003 transition from NAIA to NCAA Division II and the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA).
An East Bay native, Bielski earned his master's degree in kinesiology from Saint Mary's College and his bachelor's degree in teaching from Cal State Monterey Bay. He played collegiate soccer at both Ohlone College and CSUMB, serving as a two-year captain and earning All-Conference honors for the Otters.
Bielksi also competed professionally during his time as an assistant coach. He was a member of the Salinas Valley Samba of the National Premier Soccer League from 2004-08 and played for the California Gold, a United Soccer League professional franchise, from 2002-03.
Bielski holds an National Soccer Coaches Association of America Advanced National Coaching License and recently completed his Premier Diploma course with the NSCAA. He served as NJCAA Region IX Coordinator from 2012-16.
