Geoff Houck enters his second season as an assistant coach for Pioneer men's soccer in 2014. Houck is a former All-CCAA honoree as a player under coach Cumbo at Humboldt State.
Prior to coming to East Bay, Houck served as the head varsity soccer coach at Great Oak High School in Temecula, Calif. from 2007-10. During that time, his team won two league titles as well as the CIF Southern Section championship in 2009. That same season, Houck was named Coach of the Year.
He has also had success at the club level, helming Arsenal Southern California since 2008. Houck coached players ranging in age from 9 to 19, and his squads captured Premier League championships in the Boys U-9, U-15, U-17, U-18 and U-19 divisions. More than 25 of his players have gone on to compete in the collegiate ranks.
Houck was a standout for the Lumberjacks and a two-year starter during the 2005 and 2006 seasons. He was a first-team All-CCAA and first-team All-West Region honoree before his playing career was cut short due to a head injury. Houck earned his B.A. in criminal justice from Cal State San Marcos in 2010.
