A former player under Cumbo at Humboldt State, Lambert also has United Soccer Leagues experience, playing one season with the Lancaster Rattlers in the Premier Development League.

As Cumbo's assistant at Humbold State in 2008, Lambert helped coach three All-CCAA players and one All-West Region selection. The Jacks posted seven shutouts and ranked among the top five in the conference in four statistical categories, including shutouts and goals per game.
A midfielder for two seasons at Humboldt State, Lambert collected second-team All-CCAA and second-team All-West Region honors as a senior captain for the Jacks. Playing under Cumbo, Lambert helped guide Humboldt an 11-6-3 overall record and a 7-6-3 conference mark in its first season in the CCAA in 2006. Prior to his arrival at Humboldt State, Lambert spent two seasons at Cal State San Bernardino.
A 2008 graduate of Humboldt State, Lambert earned his bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in economics.
