Lauren Clifford

Lauren Clifford joined the CSUEB swim program as an assistant coach for the 2017-18 season. She previously spent three years as assistant coach at the University of West Florida.

Serving on the coaching staff for the first three seasons in the program's history, Clifford helped build West Florida into a strong national contender at the Division II level. The team won back-to-back New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference championships, placing 11th at NCAA Championships in 2015, then moving up to 6th the following year. In 2016, Clifford was named a semifinalist for CollegeSwimming.com's Rising Assistant Coach award. 

Clifford has also spent the last four years serving as lead coach of the Masters group, Pensacola State College site groups, and the Summer League swim team at Greater Pensacola Aquatic Center. 

A native of Placerville, Calif., she swam collegiately at Texas A&M for two years before transferring to Northwestern University. She earned Academic All-Big 12 honors in 2009-10 and Big 10 Distinguished Scholar status in 2011-12. Clifford also qualified for event finals at the 2009 Big 12 Championships, as well as the 2012 Big 10 Championships. She earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from Northwestern in 2013 and in currenrly working towards a master's degree in the same discipline from West Florida.
