Tyler Gaffaney joined the Cal State East Bay men's basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach in 2020.
Before joining the Pioneers, Gaffaney spent 3 seasons at Wesleyan University Cardinals in Middletown, Connecticut. At Wesleyan, Gaffaney was a part of the winningest season in program history in 2017-18, where the Cardinals finished with a record of 22-7. Gaffaney served as the recruiting coordinator, compiled scouting reports and video, assisted with fundraising events, player development, and oversaw the calculation of advanced stats.
Before joining the coaching ranks, Gaffaney played professionally for 2 seasons in Spain. He spent the 2016-17 season in Morón de la Frontera with Club Baloncesto Morón and the 2015-16 season in Zaragoza with El Olivar.
Gaffaney competed collegiately for the Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Stags where he was voted an All-American in 2014-15 and led the Stags to their first ever NCAA tournament victory. He was the two-time SCIAC Player of the Year as a Junior and Senior.
Gaffaney graduated from Claremont McKenna College in 2014 with a degree in Economics and Psychology and completed his MBA in 2015 at Claremont Graduate University.
