Nomination Criteria in PDF

I. Athletes

A. Athletes who have competed with “unusual distinction” in one or more intercollegiate sports while attending California State University, East Bay are eligible for consideration. The test for “unusual distinction” is made by comparing the performance of the person under consideration not only with other contemporaries, but also with athletes who performed throughout the history of intercollegiate athletics at CSUEB.

B. Athletes are eligible for consideration who have completed a program of academic coursework resulting in a degree from California State University, East Bay. Only one such exception is permitted biennially.

1. Only under special conditions, or where the contribution of the potential inductee was so outstanding, may the degree requirement be waived.

2. Athletes are eligible for consideration who have completed their athletic eligibility in the sport or sports for which they are being considered while attending California State University, East Bay.
C. Athletes are eligible for consideration whose last competition occurred at least five years prior to the induction year for the sport for which they are being considered.

II. Others (e.g., coaches, administrators, faculty, staff or community members)

A. “Others” are eligible for consideration who have contributed significantly and with “equal distinction” to intercollegiate athletics.

B. “Others” are eligible for consideration upon retirement or whose last direct involvement with the athletic program, if any, occurred at least five years prior to their induction for the contributions for which they are being considered.
