Pioneers Set to Host West Regional for Second Straight Year

5/12/2026 4:00:00 PM

For the second consecutive season, Cal State East Bay softball will host the NCAA Division II West Regional after capturing the CCAA Tournament championship.

The Pioneers earned the opportunity with a strong and consistent season, turning their success into a conference title run on their home field. Now, they'll open regional play on Thursday at 12:00 p.m. against Western Washington.

East Bay has built its season on balance. Strong pitching, timely hitting, and steady defense have allowed the Pioneers to find success in a variety of ways, helping them reach the 40-win mark against a competitive West Region schedule.

That approach carried into the CCAA Tournament, where the Pioneers navigated a challenging bracket to secure the championship and lock in their postseason position.

Leading the way has been CCAA Pitcher of the Year Marissa Quintero, along with a lineup that has delivered in key moments throughout the season. Contributions across the roster have made East Bay a tough matchup from top to bottom.

Hosting the regional once again gives the Pioneers a familiar setting as they look to continue their postseason run. With a strong field set to compete in Hayward, each game will carry added intensity as teams battle for a spot in the next round.
