Pioneers Drop to Warriors 3-2

HAYWARD, Calif. — In a back-and-forth match at the Chabot College Soccer Field, Westmont edged out Cal State East Bay 3–2 on Wednesday, handing the Pioneers one of their toughest home tests of the season.

Westmont struck first in the 30th minute, giving the them a 1–0 advantage. But East Bay answered back before halftime. In the 43rd minute, Ivan Campos leveled the score for the Pioneers.
Early in the second half, around the 61st minute, Jonas Banouas found the back of the net off an assist from Eugenio Perez-Vera Merino, putting the Pioneers ahead 2–1. Westmont responded in the 80th minute with an equalizer to make it 2–2. Just minutes later, the Warriors scored again in the 84th minute to take a 3–2 lead. East Bay had opportunities in the closing minutes but could not find the equalizer.
