HAYWARD, Calif. – Cal State East Bay softball finished up a CCAA series with Cal State Dominguez Hills at Pioneer Softball Field. The Toros won game one 2-1 and the Pioneers won game two 4-3 in eight innings to take three of four games in the series.
Game One – Cal State Dominguez Hills 2, Cal State East Bay 1
Adriana Martinez hit an RBI double down the right field line that drove in
Annelise Garcia to give Cal State East Bay a 1-0 lead. The Toros tied the game in the top of the third inning, then in the top of the fourth, took a 2-1 lead. The Pioneers had the tying run into scoring position in the bottom of the fifth inning but would not score and the Toros won game one, 2-1.
Game Two – Cal State East Bay 4, Cal State Dominguez Hills 3 (8 innings)
The Toros took an early 2-0 lead in the top of the second on a two-run home run by Kaylee Hull.
However, the Pioneers answered with a
Jeslyn Cuellar RBI double to left center that drove in
Kyana Elder and two more runs were scored on a Garcia double to center field that drove in
Mariah Ayala and Cuellar for a 3-2 lead.
CSUDH tied the game in the top of the fifth inning, 3-3.
After a scoreless sixth and seventh inning, the game went to extra innings.
Marissa Quintero entered in the eighth inning as a relief pitcher and retired the side. In the bottom of the eighth, Cuellar led off with a double and reached third on a sacrifice bunt to follow. After the bunt, Garcia launched a walk-off RBI double sending the Pioneers to a 4-3 win to take three of four in the series against CSUDH.
- Garcia went 4-for-5 in game two with two doubles and three RBIs.
- As a reliever, win went to Quintero, who is 7-3 on the season.

Cal State Dominguez Hills: 14-10, 11-7 CCAA

The Pioneers will play in the 21
st Annual Tournament of Champions, Presented by the City of Turlock from March 22-24. The first game for CSUEB in the tournament is on Friday against UH Hilo at 2 p.m. from Pedretti Sports Complex in Turlock.
