AUSTIN, Texas – The 2022-23 Division II Academic All-America® Women's At-Large Teams were announced Thursday by College Sports Communicators. From Cal State East Bay water polo, goalkeeper Daniela Passoni was named to the Second Team Academic All-America.

With Thursday's award, Passoni added to her collection of very prestigious awards for her career as a Pioneer. Just in 2023, Passoni was named Academic All-District®, ACPWC First Team All-American and was named WWPA Player of the Year. Also from the WWPA, she was named to the All-Tournament Team and picked up one WWPA Player of the Week honor.

This past February, Passoni picked up her first career shutout in net when the Pioneers defeated Austin College, 18-0. Passoni played all available minutes protecting the net during the 2023 season and has the second most saves in program history.

Passoni is the third member of CSUEB Water Polo to be an Academic All-America® selection. In 2020, Auriel Bill was named to the third team and in 2012, Claire Pierce was named to the third team.

For 2022-23, Passoni is one of three student-athletes from Cal State East Bay to receive Academic All-America® honors for NCAA Division II. Brooklyn Dressel from was named to the Academic All-America Third Team for women's swimming and Jasmin Krishna, from women's golf, was named to the Academic All-America Second Team in the women's at-large category.
