CSUEB Softball Finishes Series With a Win on Saturday

HAYWARD, Calif. – Cal State East Bay softball team split a doubleheader with Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday at Pioneer Softball Field. The Coyotes won game one 2-1 and the Pioneers returned the favor winning game two 7-4.

GAME SUMMARIES

Game One – Cal State San Bernardino 2, Cal State East Bay 1
The Pioneers got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning on an Adriana Martinez RBI double that drove Sarah Duran. The Coyotes tied the game in the top of the third inning and took the lead for good in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI double from Ariana Chavarria.
  
Game Two – Cal State East Bay 7, Cal State San Bernardino 4
The Coyotes opened the scoring up in the top of the first inning with two runs.

In the bottom of the first, the Pioneers answered when Annelise Garcia launched her fourth home run of the season. The home run was a three-run shot that also drove in Martinez and Gabriela Rivera

Although the Coyotes tied the game in the top of the second inning, the Pioneers took the lead for good in the bottom of the third inning on a throwing error that allowed Kylie Coelho to score the go-ahead run.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Pioneers extended their lead on a Keira Cahalan RBI single that drove in Sarissa Block. Cal State East Bay would plate a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on a double from Ysabella Cortez for two RBIS, as Block and Jeslyn Cuellar were driven in. CSUSB added a run late in the game, but the Pioneers finished the four-game series with a 7-4 win. 

In the circle, Savannah Barchus improved to 4-1 after 5.2 scoreless innings in relief allowing no earned runs.
