SANTA CLARA, Calif. - On Saturday, Cal State East Bay women's Water polo dropped a pair of matches in the Santa Clara Mini at Sullivan Aquatic Center. The Pioneers fell short against Santa Clara, 8-5, and lost 13-5 to No. 20 San Jose State.

Bailey Barlow and
Luna Sarmiento scored a goal each in the first half for the Pioneers, but trailed at halftime to the Broncos, 4-3.
Sarmiento added two more goals in the third quarter. Through 24 minutes of action, CSUEB trailed 6-5. SCU scored a pair of goals in the final frame, and held the Pioneers scoreless in the fourth, as Santa Clara won 8-5.
No. 20 San Jose State, Cal State East Bay 5
The Spartans held CSUEB to only a goal in the first half, which was scored by Barlow.
Though Barlow scored two more goals in the match, San Jose State remained in control for most of the match, cruising to a 13-5 win.
Rachel Heredia and Ingrid Rubio Miro scored a goal each as well for the Pioneers in Saturday's second match.

On March 3-4, the Pioneers (5-8) will compete in the Claremont Convergence tournament, hosted by Pomona-Pitzer. Cal State East Bay's first match of the tournament on March 3 will be against McKendree from Haldeman Pool in Claremont, starting at 1 p.m.
