Pioneers Close Out PCSC Championships With More Medals

MONTEREY PARK, Calif. - The final day of the 2023 PCSC Championships took place Saturday at East LA College Swim Stadium. Among 13 teams, the Cal State East Bay women's swimming team placed third. Two silver medals were awarded to a pair of individuals from Cal State East Bay and a relay team picked up a gold medal. 
  • The Pioneer relay team of Brooklyn Dressel, Delaney Carlson, Jacqueline Feurtado and Olivia Parham became PCSC Champions in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of three minutes, 25.07 seconds. 
  • Just 0.04 seconds off the lead in the 100 yard freestyle was Dressel, who placed second with a time of 50.50 seconds to earn a silver medal.
  • Earning a silver medal in the 1650 yard freestyle was Miya French, whose second place finish was completed in 17:24.09. 
 In total, the Pioneers had six gold medals, two silver medals, and two bronze medals throughout the PCSC Championships.

For the swimmers who qualified for their respective postseason events by way of time standards, the 2023 NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships will take place at IU Natatorium in Indianapolis from March 7-11. Official qualifiers and participants will be announced at a later date and once announced, will be available on EastBayPioneers.com
