HAYWARD, Calif. - On Thursday, Cal State East Bay women's returned to Pioneer Stadium to host Cal State San Marcos for the 2023 regular season finale.. Each team scored a goal in each half en route to a 2-2 draw.

- The Pioneers took a 1-0 lead in eighth minute on a Jenna Villanueva tally after a pass from Payton Heaney. For Villanueva, it was her first goal of the season and third of her career at Cal State East Bay.Â
- The Cougars were awarded a penalty kick in the 31st minute that Natalie Paulson put into the net to even the match at 1-1.
- Brianna Delgado netted her fifth goal of the season in the 70th minute as CSUSM took a 2-1 lead. Kaci Embree assisted on the go-ahead goal.
- A handball led to an awarded penalty kick for the Pioneers in the 75th minute, and Mika Sayfurahman converted the opportunity with the equalizer to even the score at 2-2.Â
- Sayfurahman's goal was her eighth of the season, which is most for the Pioneers and tied for the most in the regular season in the CCAA.Â
- In net, Jordan Smith made six saves for the Pioneers, including a critical save with less than five minutes remaining to preserve the 2-2 tie.Â
- The Cougars outshot the Pioneers 15-8 and had a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
- In both matches for between the Pioneers and CSUSM this season, each ended in a draw.Â
- The 2023 season for CSUEB showed tremendous improvement in record with seven wins, five more than the previous season.Â
