SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The 2022 CCAA regular season opened up on Friday for the Cal State East Bay women's soccer team, as the Pioneers dropped the match to Cal State San Marcos, 3-1 at The Cage. Early in the match,
Jordan Salmon scored her first career goal with the Pioneers.
- In just the fourth minute, Salmon scored her first goal as a Pioneer, putting Cal State East Bay ahead 1-0. Kayla Morales assisted on the opening goal.
- Claire Hernandez netted the equalizer for the Cougars in the 52nd minute, with an assist by Danielle Paulson.
- It did not take long for CSUSM to take the lead. Sierra Moore scored what became the game winner in the 54th minute, with an assist from Chloe King.
- Extending the Cougars' lead to 3-1 in the 85th minute was Jenna Frankina. King got her second assist of the match.
- It was the second straight match in which Morales had an assist.
- With two shots each were Salmon and Mika Sayfurahman.
- The only Pioneer field player to be on the pitch for a full 90 minutes was Morgan Pearson.

"It was a tale of two halves. San Marcos responded incredibly well coming out of the break. It's about putting together a full 90 and we are still learning how to get closer to that."
