SAN RAFAEL, Calif. - The first road match of 2022 for the Cal State East Bay men's soccer team took place Thursday from Kennelly Field against Dominican (Calif.). The Penguins defeated the Pioneers, 4-2. The two goals for Cal State East Bay were scored by
Aaron Farnan.
- DU netted the first three goals of the match, to lead 3-0 in the 60th minute. The Penguins' firts three goal scorers of the day were Louie Galdamez, Aboubacar Cisse and Dominic Galletti. Brian Sanchez had two assists out of the three goals and one assist each went to Diego Grande, Jesus Duran, Brandon Selway and Galletti.
- In the 66th minute, Aaron Farnan netted his second goal of the season, as the Pioneers trailed 3-1. The goal was assisted by Josh Gaeckle.
- Farnan scored his second goal of the match in the 77th minute. Santos Fuentes Ruiz assisted on the goal, as CSUEB only trailed by a goal.
- Dominican added to its lead when Diego Grande scored a goal in the 80th minute, as DU led 4-2. Assisting on Grande's goal was Sanchez, for his third of the day and Cole Porter.
- With Farnan's two goals, he now has three on the season, and has scored the last three goals for the Pioneers.
- Zavier Hajdukovich had 11 saves in net for Cal State East Bay.
- Gaeckle had a team-high three shots in the match, with two on frame.
