HAYWARD, Calif. – After a historic 2021 season for the Cal State East Bay women's soccer program, the 2022 season started on Thursday evening from Pioneer Stadium. The Pioneers played to a 2-2 non-conference tie against Northwest Nazarene to open the season
- The Nighthawks took an early 1-0 lead in the 8th minute on a goal from Sierra Sanchez. Assisting on the goal was Makayla Roggow.
- Cal State East Bay responded in the 15th minute. A long pass from Mika Sayfurahman set up an opportunity for Morgan Pearson. Pearson netted her first career goal with the Pioneers to even the match at 1-1.
- Another first goal with the Pioneers was scored in the 42nd minute by Abigail Kern. Yvette Moreno assisted on Cal State East Bay's go-ahead goal. The Pioneers led 2-1 at halftime.
- With 1:59 remaining in regulation, the Nighthawks evened up the match. Madison Grande scored the equalizer as Magda Wronski assisted on the play.
- Kern and Pearson accounted for all of the Pioneers' shots. Three of the four shots were on net.
- Jordan Smith made eight saves in net for Cal State East Bay.

This coming Saturday, Cal State East Bay hosts Biola in a non-conference matchup from Pioneer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 11:30 a.m. The matchup for CSUEB against Biola is the first between both teams at the NCAA Division II level.
