ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – The Cal State East Bay finished up their final regular season road series of 2022 against Sonoma State in on Saturday. The Seawolves won the first game 2-0 and the second game 5-0 to ocmplete a series sweep.
Game One – Sonoma State 2, CSU East Bay 0
In the bottom of the third inning, the Seawolves took a 1-0 lead on a Jordyn Martinez RBI sacrifice fly to center field that scored Reagan Hunt. In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Seawolves added to their lead on a Giana Hays solo home run. Sarah Fukushima had the lone hit of the game for Cal State East Bay with a double in the top of the first inning.
In the circle, Abby Greer had seven strikeouts for Cal State East Bay.
Game Two – Sonoma State 5, CSU East Bay 0
SSU took a 1-0 lead in the first inning and and added four runs in the bottom of the third inning for a 5-0 lead which held for the remainder of the game, as Jesse Dupuis pitched a no-hitter for the Seawolves. The Pioneers would baserunners in four separate innings including Venessa Nguyen reaching scoring position in the third inning, but Cal State East bay was unable to capitalize.
Cal State East Bay sits in sixth place in the conference standings at 13-19 in CCAA play, one game ahead of San Francisco State and Cal State San Bernardino through Saturday's action. The Pioneers, SF State and CSUSB each have four games remaining in CCAA regular season play.
The Pioneers return home for the final CCAA series of the 2022 regular season as they will host on Stanislaus State at Pioneer Softball Field. The first pitch of the series opener against the Warriors is set for Friday at 1 p.m. from Pioneer Softball Field.
