STOCKTON, Calif. — The No. RV Cal State East Bay water polo team fell short in a hard-fough road contest against No. 15-ranked University of Pacific, 15-8, on Saturday afternoon at Chris Kjeldsen Pool.
Junior
Adrien Van Dyke recorded a hat trick with three goals, while junior
Payton Bosque and freshman
Luna Sarmiento scored two goals apiece. Sophomore goalkeeper
Daniela Passoni finished with 10 saves in the net.
East Bay fell behind 5-2 at the end of the first quarter and pulled within 9-5 at halftime after goals from Van Dyke and Bosque. Van Dyke added two more scores in the fourth, but the Pioneers' comeback attempt ran out of time.
CSUEB (2-1) returns to action next weekend at the Arizona State Invitational beginning on Friday, Feb. 11.
