POMONA, Calif. —
The Cal State East Bay men's basketball team secured a big road victory at Cal Poly Pomona, 57-53, on Saturday afternoon at Kellogg Gym, winning for the second time in its last three contests.

Sophomore guard Kaito Williams matched a career-high by scoring a game-high 18 points with four 3-pointers, senior forward Justin Vigil scored 11 points with six rebounds, junior guard Zack Perlstein finished nine points, while freshman guard DJ Sanders had a strong all-around game with eight points, eight rebounds and six assists.

East Bay (5-12, 3-8 CCAA) took a one-point lead into halftime, 29-28, and bounced back from a six-point deficit early in the second half. A Vigil 3-pointer but the Pioneers back on top 48-45 with just over five minutes left to play, and a key Williams' three pushed the lead to 55-48 with 25 seconds remaining in the game.

The victory snapped a seven-game losing streak to CPP (7-7, 3-7), as East Bay won at Pomona for the first time since the 2016-17 season.

CSUEB returns home to resume action against first-place Cal State San Marcos on Thursday, Feb. 3, at Pioneer Gym beginning at 7:30 p.m.
