DAVIS, Calif. — The No. RV Cal State East Bay water polo team started off its season on a high note on Saturday, as the Pioneers swept two matches against Fresno Pacific, 20-10, and Cal State Monterey Bay, 13-4, as part of the UC Davis Aggie Shootout.
CSUEB (2-0) is receiving votes in the CWPA Preseason Top 25 for the sixth-consecutive season, and was picked to finish second in the 2022 Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Preseason Coaches Poll.

Freshman
Bailey Barlow scored four goals in the first game of her college career, leading the Pioneers to a season-opening win over the Sunbirds.
Senior
Auriel Bill and junior
Adrien Van Dyke also scored four goals apiece, while Bill recorded a team-high two assists and Van Dyke finished with three steals.
CSUEB jumped out to an early 6-1 lead behind two goals from Bill and one apiece by freshman

Leti Mosqueda scored twice in the second quarter to extend the lead to 12-5, and Barlow's goal with 27 seconds remaining in the first half gave East Bay a 15-5 lead at halftime.
East Bay 13, Cal State Monterey Bay 4 [FINAL BOX]
Bill scored three goals with two assists to lead the Pioneers to their second victory over the day, defeating Cal State Monterey Bay.
Wittkowske and junior
Payton Bosque both scored two goals, while Barlow, and Van Dyke also tallied two assists.
Sophomore goalkeeper
Daniela Passoni finished with 10 saves in the net to earn the win, and sophomore
Brighton Kinney started the second half and added two saves.
East Bay led 5-1 at halftime, and pushed its lead to 8-2 after Bosque's second goal of the match with 1:12 to go in the third period.
CSUEB returns to action on Feb. 5, as the Pioneers travel to face the University of the Pacific beginning at 11 a.m.
