HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay men's basketball team used a big second half to pull away down the stretch, earning a home victory over Sonoma State, 85-61, on Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Gym.
East Bay has now won four-straight meetings against Sonoma State overall, and four in a row against the Seawolves in games played in Hayward.
Sophomore guard
Kaito Williams scored a career-high 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting to go along with five rebounds and five assists.
Senior forward
Justin Vigil scored 12 points, junior guard
Jesse Galloway added 11 points with five assists, junior
Zack Perlstein scored 10 points and senior forward
Josh Dhatt finished with eight points and eight rebounds.
CSUEB led by 36-32 at halftime, and used a 23-4 run in the second half to take a 74-53 lead on a Williams' 3-pointer with 3:38 left to play.
The Pioneers return to action on the road next week, as East Bay gets set to face Cal State San Bernardino on Jan. 27, before taking on Cal Poly Pomona on Jan. 29.
