HAYWARD, Calif. — The 2021 CCAA Champion Cal State East Bay women's soccer team will face PacWest Co-Champion Point Loma in the first round of the NCAA West Regional on Thursday, Nov. 18, beginning at 1 p.m.
The match will be played in Bellingham, Wash., and hosted by Western Washington University. The contest will be streamed live
here, and live stats will be available.
The winner will face Western Washington in the second round on Saturday, Nov. 20 at 1 p.m.
CSUEB (11-5-4) is coming off its first-ever CCAA Championship, as the Pioneers defeated the regular-season conference champion Sonoma State, 2-1, in a thrilling contest in the CCAA Tournament Final on Nov. 14.
Junior midfielder
Kelsey Pena was named CCAA Tournament Offensive MVP after scoring the game-winning goal in the championship victory over the Seawolves, and also assisting on senior
Tami Kwong's Golden Goal in the 1-0 semifinal win against Chico State on Nov. 12.
Junior goalkeeper
Jordan Smith was tabbed CCAA Tournament Defensive MVP after tallying nine saves, including three stops on penalty kicks, in three conference tournament games for the Pioneers. Smith's 10 shutouts this season are the most in program history.
Sophomore midfielder
Payton Heaney recorded the game-tying score in the championship final against Sonoma State, which was her first goal of the season. Heaney joined Pena, Smith, Kwong, senior
Riley Spitzer and freshman
Kylie Newman on the CCAA All-Tournament Team.
With 24 career victories, fourth-year Cal State East Bay head coach
Robin Hart already ranks third all-time in program history. In addition, coach Hart was named Women's Coaches Advocacy Group Coach of the Week by the United Soccer Coaches on Nov. 16.
