HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay men's basketball team begins its 2021-22 season this weekend at the FPU Crossover Classic hosted by Fresno Pacific.

East Bay will face Fresno Pacific in its season opener on Friday, Nov. 12, beginning at 8 p.m., before facing No. 24-ranked Point Loma on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 6 p.m.

Both contests will be streamed live with live stats available.

CSUEB was picked to finish fourth in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Preseason Coaches Poll on Oct. 26. The Pioneers received 103 points to finish ahead of Cal State Dominguez Hills (101) and just behind third-place Cal Poly Pomona (106).

Despite all members of the CCAA not playing a game during the entire 2020-21 season, CSUEB was previously ranked tied for No. 10 in the 2020-21 DII West Region Men's Basketball Media Poll.

CSUEB finished the 2019-20 campaign with a 17-13 overall record, en route to reaching the CCAA Semifinals for the second-consecutive season.

Forward Zafir Williams landed on the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-West Region Second Team following the 2019-20 season, in addition to earning CCAA Newcomer of the Year and First-Team All-CCAA honors.
