East Bay Plays Host to Chico State to Help 'Kick Out Cancer'

The Cal State East Bay men's soccer team continues conference play this week with a come match against Chico State on Thursday, Oct. 14, beginning at 7 p.m., before hitting the road to face Humboldt State on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 2 p.m.

Both contests will be streamed live on CCAA Network, and live stats will be available.

Thursday's contest against Chico State will also be Cal State East Bay's Kicking Out Cancer day across campus, as the CSUEB Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) will create awareness and raise donations for breast cancer awareness. CSUEB (2-7-1, 1-3 CCAA) has never beaten Chico State as members of the CCAA, while the Pioneers are 3-4 in the last seven meetings against Humboldt State.

Cal State East Bay is coming off a two-match road trip last weekend, as it fell short against No. 19-ranked Cal State LA, 3-0, before dropping a match at Cal Poly Pomona, 7-0.

Junior Josh Gaeckle recorded two shots on goal and three total shots against Cal State LA, while junior goalkeeper Kelekolio Mateo Jr., finished with four saves in the net. Sophomore defender Nikita Charsov recorded a shot against CPP, and freshman goalkeeper Jack Landreth tallied a career-high five saves.
