CAMBRIDGE, Mass. — The East Bay water polo team lost a thriller to host and No. 17-ranked Harvard, 16-15, on Sunday morning, before wrapping up the invitational with a convincing 17-7 win against Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) foe Salem to finish the weekend.
CSUEB (6-9, 2-0 WWPA) fell short in Saturday's opening game against No. 22-ranked Bucknell, 12-9, and dropped the second game against No. 19 Wagner, 13-7.
Harvard 16, CSUEB 15
In the most exciting contest of the weekend, the Pioneers led the No. 17-ranked Crimson for most of the game before Harvard scored the game winner with just 10 seconds left in regulation.
East Bay led 6-2 after the first quarter and 8-6 at halftime. After taking a 10-9 lead into the fourth quarter,
Jordan Jarandson's goal with 3:34 remaining put the Pioneers back ahead, 13-12.

Payton Bosque tied it up 14-14 with 1:18 left to play, and
Ivanna Anderson pulled the Pioneers even again moments later,15-15, with 20 seconds to go.
Adrien Van Dyke led the way for East Bay with four goals and an assist, while Bosque finished with three goals and
Daniela Passoni racked up 10 saves.
CSUEB 17, Salem 7
The Pioneers finished this weekend's action with a convincing victory over Salem behind three goals and three assists by both
Auriel Bill and Van Dyke.Â
Maddie Wittkowske, Bosque and Anderson added two goals apiece, while senior
Tahnee Trew and freshmanÂ
Janie Hobbs both had two assists. Sophomore
Brighton Kinney had four saves in the cage.
Bucknell 12, CSUEB 9
Leti Mosqueda, Bill and Van Dyke scored two goals apiece in the weekend's opening contest against Bucknell. Jarandson added one goal and three assists in the narrow loss.
Wagner 13, CSUEB 7
Bill scored three goals with two assists, and Wittkowske also had a hat trick with three goals against the six-time reigning Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) champions. Jarandson and junior
Maci Taylor also tallied two assists each, while Passoni finished with nine saves.
