HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay men's basketball team heads south this week for two crucial road contests to wrap up the 2019-20 regular season.
The Pioneers will play at No. RV Cal Poly Pomona on Thursday, Feb. 27, beginning at 7:30 p.m., before taking on No. 23 Cal State San Bernardino on Saturday, Feb. 29, at 8Â p.m.
Both contests will be streamed live and live stats will be available. In addition, Saturday's contest at Cal State San Bernardino will feature a live audio broadcast.
Cal State East Bay (15-11, 11-9 CCAA) is coming off a key Senior Day home victory over Cal State San Marcos, 73-68, on Feb. 22. Junior forward
Zafir Williams exploded for 25 points and 10 rebounds, junior guard
Nai Carlisle scored 12 points, while seniors
Ant Navarrete (11 points, 10 rebounds) and
Evan Wardlow (11 points) had solid performances in their final home games.
The Pioneers have won three of their last four games overall heading into the week, and is currently slotted as the No. 5 seed in next month's California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Tournament, beginning on March 3.Â
There's still a lot to be decided this weekend however, as CSUEB is just ahead of sixth-place Stanislaus State (15-11, 11-10) going into this week's action.
Cal Poly Pomona and San Bernardino are currently tied with Chico State for second place in the CCAA standings. This week's contests will play a big role in postseason seedings and matchups.
