Box Score HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay women's soccer team was done in by an improbable goal on Sunday afternoon, as Cal State San Marcos defeated the Pioneers in overtime, 1-0.
CSUEB (1-4-3, 0-1-1 CCAA) was well on its way to pitching its fourth-straight shutout when Cal State San Marcos senior Jessica Harloe booted a high-arching rainbow shot from midfield in the 95th minute, landing just over the outstretch arms of Pioneer goalkeeper
Jordan Smith and into the net.
The Cougars' goal snapped a streak of 416 consecutive scoreless minutes defensively for the Pioneers. Cal State East Bay seniorÂ
Eliana Mendoza recorded a team-high two shots, while Smith finished with five saves.
The Pioneers return to pitch on Wednesday, Oct. 2, when they play host to Cal State Monterey Bay beginning at 3 p.m.
