HAYWARD, Calif.
-- The Cal State East Bay water polo team picked up its third straight win on Wednesday morning, notching its highest scoring output of the season in a 16-9 victory over visiting George Washington.

The teams got started early on a brisk morning at Pioneer Pool in a contest that had to be scheduled from Tuesday evening because GWU's flight was delayed. They Payton Bosque got it started early for East Bay.

Bosque scored on the first possession of the game to set the tone, and CSUEB never looked back. They led 3-1 after goals by Maci Taylor and Adrien Van Dyke in the first quarter, and extended it to 6-1 midway through the second as Van Dyke and Bosque each netted their second of the day and Tahnee Trew got in the fun as well.

The teams traded a pair of goals before halftime, with Brittany Smith scoring on back-to-back possessions, to head into halftime with East Bay leading 9-3. Daniela Passoni played the first half in the cage and ultimately earned the victory, racking up nine saves.

Van Dyke, who scored once in every quarter, achieved her third-quarter quota quickly to make it 9-3. The Colonials started to find some success offensively, but East Bay matched them throughout the period. Briana Ruiz, Ivanna Anderson, and Auriel Bill all found the back of the cage to keep the home team ahead 12-6 heading into the final period.

Once again, George Washington managed to put points on the boards, but once again the Pioneer attackers were just better. Smith secured her hat trick to open the fourth. Then after GWU cut it to 13-7, Van Dyke answered with her fourth and then Bill scored twice down the stretch to seal the win and notch a hat trick of her own.

Van Dyke and Taylor each finished with three assists to lead the team.

The Pioneers now set their sights on Los Angeles, where they will travel for the Loyola Marymount Invitational and take on four very tough opponents Friday and Saturday.
