TURLOCK, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay men's soccer team closed out its season with a close road defeat at Stanislaus State, 2-1, Saturday afternoon at Warrior Stadium.
Freshman
Zack Mason tied the score in the 57th minute with a goal that was initially saved by the Stanislaus State goalkeeper. The Rocklin, Calif., native gathered the rebound and knocked it through for his third goal of the season.
But the Warriors responded with a game-winning score by Jack Montejano in the 79th minute that wound up being the difference in the contest.
CSUEB outshot Stanislaus State for the game, 17-12, with a 7-3 edge in shots on target. In addition, the Pioneers had nine corner kicks compared to just four for the Warriors.
Mason's three goals this season is tied for junior
Tommy Flora for the team lead, while Mason also finished the year with a team-high eight total points.
