Box Score CHICO, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay men's basketball team had a late lead slip away in a road loss Saturday evening at Chico State, 81-71, at Acker Gymnasium.
CSUEB (4-2, 1-1 CCAA) led by 10 late in the second quarter after a 3-pointer by sophomore guard
Jesse Galloway with 6:11 remaining, but was unable to hold off Chico State (3-2, 1-1) down the stretch.
Junior forward
Zafir Williams scored a game-high 26 points with 10 rebounds, while senior forward
Ant Navarrete and junior guard
Nai Carlisle scored 10 points apiece.Â
The Pioneers shot 50 percent from the field for the second-consecutive game, had a 40-28 edge in points in the paint and outrebounded the Wildcats, 34-30. CSUEB also shot a season best 82.4 percent (14-for-17) from the free-throw line.
Cal State East Bay returns to action on Wednesday, Nov. 27, when the Pioneers play a non-conference road game at Saint Martin's beginning at 1 p.m.
