Box Score HAYWARD, Calif. — The Cal State East Bay men's soccer team got a goal from junior
Stoil Ganev in the second half, but it wasn't enough to overcome a first-half deficit Friday evening in a loss to Sonoma State, 5-1.
Ganev found the back of the net off an assist from freshman
Dominic Lewis in the 54
th minute, cutting the Pioneers' deficit to 3-1. However, Sonoma State (3-5-1, 2-1-0 CCAA) tacked on two more scores in the second half to put the game out of reach.
Senior
Tyson Griffin added two shots on goal, while freshman goalkeeper
Sean O'Brien recorded four saves. As a team, CSUEB (2-7-0, 0-4-0) tallied seven shots and five corner kicks.
The Pioneers return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 8, when they hit the road to face UC Santa Cruz beginning at 3 p.m.
