SEASIDE, Calif.
-- The No. 25 ranked Cal State East Bay water polo team completed a season sweep over Cal State Monterey on Friday afternoon, out-scoring the Otters in all four quarters to pull away for a 15-8 road victory over their conference rivals.

The Pioneers have now won seven of their last eight games to improve their overall record to 14-8, while CSUMB falls to 4-17 on the year. With just two home games remaining in the regular season, East Bay finishes 2018 with an impressive road record of 8-2.

Friday saw another huge game from freshman Adrien Van Dyke, who led all players with a season-high six goals. The rookie from Canada has now recorded a hat trick in five of her last six games, and today she overtook Auriel Bill for the team lead with 41 goals for the season.

Van Dyke netted the first three goals of the contest against the Otters, giving the Pioneers a 3-0 lead in the first two minutes of play. Brooke Hodgkinson scored the first of her two goals in the opening quarter as well, and East Bay led 4-2 after the first eight minutes.

The Pioneers extended their lead in the second, as Bill and Cheyenne Brady found the back of the cage and Van Dyke scored her fourth of the afternoon. Monterey's Lucy Gates beat the halftime buzzer to get one back, but CSUEB held a comfortable 7-3 lead at the break.

The Otters scored again on their first possession of the second half to cut their deficit to three, but that was as close as they would get. Van Dyke notched her fifth and sixth goals and Bill picked up her second, and just like that it was 10-4 Pioneers midway through the third. Two minutes later, CSUEB's Brittany Smith and CSUMB's Sarah Smith traded goals. Following a Monterey ejection, Beverly Ayers beat the third quarter buzzer to get in the score sheet with her first goal.

East Bay led 12-6 heading into the fourth, and senior Erika McFeggan took over for junior Makenna Nation in the cage. Nation finished with six saves, five steals, and three assists, notching her 12th win as the starter.

Hodkinson scored again midway through the fourth quarter, and then Briana Ruiz and Maeve Flynn both got in on the fun with goals in the final two minutes for East Bay, marking the third time in the past six games the Pioneers have scored at least 15 times.

Next week, CSUEB returns home to wrap up the regular season against a pair of conference foes. The Pioneers host Fresno Pacific next Friday, Apr. 13 at 1:00 p.m. The following day, they'll celebrate "Senior Day" prior to their regular season finale and designated WWPA contest against Sonoma State on Saturday, Apr. 14.
