ORANGE, Calif. -- The No. 25 ranked Cal State East Bay water polo team closed out its four-game road trip on Saturday with an 18-1 blowout victory over Chapman.Â
The Pioneers went 3-1 on the Spring Break trek to Southern California, improving their overall record to 12-8. The team has won nine of its last 12 games over the past four weeks.Â
10 different players scored for East Bay in the victory over Chapman, and six of them netted multiple goals. Reigning Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Player of the Week
Adrien Van Dyke led the way with four goals, while sophomore
Auriel Bill tallied two goals and a team-high five assists.
Brittany Smith put the Pioneers on the scoreboard one minute into the game, and they never looked back. Goals by

Briana Ruiz, and two for Van Dyke made it 5-0 after one period. Chapman finally found the back of the cage early in the second quarter, but the Pioneers tallied six more goals before halftime, as
Cheyenne Brady,
Ivanna Anderson, and Gabriela Garcia got in on the fun.
Gina Sorenson notched the lone goal of the third quarter, as the Pioneers took their foot off the gas a bit, but nonetheless posted a scoreless eight minutes defensively.
Erika McFeggan played the first three quarters in the cage, making nine saves and allowing just one goal to earn the victory.
Skyler Ramirez took over for the fourth and shut Chapman out during the final period to close out the game.
CSUEB scored six more times in that quarter, with Bill, Ruiz, and Anderson each posting their second goals of the game. Van Dyke secured the hat trick, and then added a fourth goal for good measure less than a minute later. Midway through the period,
Maci Taylor became the tenth Pioneer to score in the game.
The Pioneers return north to open Spring Quarter this week before visiting Sonoma State next Saturday for a road showdown with a familiar foe.
