ARCATA, Calif., -- The Cal State East Bay men's soccer program concluded their 2018 season with a tough 3-1 loss to Humboldt State Saturday afternoon, October 27 at College Creek Field.

With the loss the Pioneers finish the season with a record of 3-13-1 and a 1-10-1 mark in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) action.

Cal State East Bay's final score of this contest was not indicative of how the game was played. The Pioneers and Lumberjacks battled back and forth for control of momentum throughout the first half of the contest. The teams took a scoreless tie into the intermission.

The second half of action belonged to the host team Lumberjacks as they opened they half with a goal within the first three minutes to take a 1-0 lead. Humboldt State would add to their lead in the 81st minute of the match with another goal to surge ahead 2-0.

But the Pioneers would not hang their heads as they responded with a goal of their own as senior captain
Carter Magee (Belfast, Northern Ireland.) scored on a penalty kick in the 82nd minute of the game. For Magee, it was his fourth goal of the season, which is second on the team. All four of Magee's goals have come in conference action.

The Lumberjacks would add one final goal in the 89th minutes just before the final horn to close the match with a 3-1 home victory.

East Bay attempted 15 shots on the game with 11 shots coming on goal while Humboldt State finished with 24 total shots and 20 shots coming on goal.

Seniors
Ben Reiter (Pleasant Hill, Calif.) and
Jonathan Cuevas (Reno, Nev.) paced the Pioneers with three shots each. All their shots came on goal except one attempt from Reiter.

Carter Magee,
Jonathan Ayala (Concord, Calif.) and
Michael Francisco (Hayward, Calif.) all attempted two shots each with two shots on goal from Magee and Francisco and one shot on goal by Ayala.

Omar Coronel (Santa Rosa, Calif.),
Joe Takada (Honolulu, Hawaii) and
Keith Moreno (Maywood, Calif.) all chipped in one shot apiece with Moreno's shot coming on goal.

Junior
Carlos Moreno (Patterson, Calif.) logged the start in goal and tied a season high with eight saves. Senior
Argenis Torres (Patterson, Calif.) saw just over six minutes in the box and tallied one save, the first save of his career.
