POMONA, Calif. – The Cal State East Bay women's soccer team dropped a tough road battle to the Cal Poly Pomona Broncos by a score of 1-0 on Friday night, September 22 at Kellogg Field.
The Pioneers moved to 3-5 on the season and 1-2 in California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) play. The Broncos improved to to 6-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 on conference play.
Both defenses put up as tough outing as the squads attempted 12 shots apiece, eight for CPP and four for CSUEB. The teams chipped in three shots at the frame each, as it would be Cal Poly Pomona who would capitalized when it mattered most to come away with the victory.
Head coach
Amy Gerace was proud of the passion that her team played with down to the final minutes.
"We played hard tonight, didn't let up the entire game," expressed Gerace. "As we make our way through the conference with so many skilled teams, we have to find a way to finish the opportunities we create and be more dangerous in the box. Our players showed a lot of passion tonight and were fun to coach. I hope the loss affects them in a positive way that shows they can match up with top teams and makes them that much more excited to play the next match."
It wasn't until the 63rd minute of the action that the scoreless drought was broken by the Broncos Alison Kung.

Lauren McDougal paced the Pioneers with two shots one shot attempted at the frame.

Bri Vallente both put up one shot for East Bay.

Ina Gonzalez logged two saves for CSUEB and patrolled the Pioneers net for the full 90 minutes of game action.
East Bay will continue their conference road weekend with a match against against Cal State San Bernardino on Sunday afternoon, September 24. Kickoff with begin at 11:30 a.m. at Premier Field.
