CARSON, Calif. – The Cal State East Bay Pioneers claimed a 3-1 series victory over California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) foe Cal State Dominguez Hills with a sweep of Sunday's doubleheader at Toro Softball Field.
The Pioneers improved to 10-12 in CCAA play and a 14-12 mark overall with 13-0 and 12-8 wins hanging 14 and 17 hits respectively in back-to-back outings.
CSUEB exploded for nine runs in the top of the second frame, capped of by three total home runs in the in opening game of the doubleheader.

Jennifer Palmares all knocked in homers for East Bay.
Ashley Allen smashed a lead off homer to left field to put the Pioneers on the scoreboard first.
Jennifer Palmares blasted her home run to left field to close of the offensive eruption in the second inning.
Sarah Fukushima put her homer to left field in the final frame of action as the Pioneers scored at least one run in all innings except the third.
Palmares led East Bay with three hits, including a double, three RBIs and two runs scored. Allen finished with a hit, one RBI and scored two runs. Fukushima compiled two hits, two runs scored and a RBI.
Freshman
Abby Greer (W, 7-6) tossed her third complete game shutout of the season. She went all five innings, striking out two batter and only giving up one walk. Greer only gave up four hits through 71 total pitches.
Tanya Galvan tallied two hits, two RBis and two runs scored.
Courtney Leyba and
Emilie Portesi each put in a hits, a run and a RBI for CSUEB while
Ali Cerminara,
Meghan Araneta,
Haley Keahi and
Deanne Garza all added a hit for Pioneers as they accumulated 14 hits, their third highest mark of the season.
For East Bay it was their third shutout victory of the season.
In the final game of the series the Pioneers continued with their offensive barrage, finishing with 17 hits which is the second highest tally of the season.
The second game of the day followed a similar trend to the first as CSUEB ripped off six runs in the top of the second inning to take control of the game. Although the Toros was keep the game close with their offense the Pioneer would seal the deal with three runs in the sixth framed to claim a 12-8 victory.
Tanya Galvan tallied a season high four hits with two runs and a RBI.

Sarah Fukushima and
Haley Keahi all chipped in two hits apiece.
Leyba added a game high three RBIs and a run while Palmares scored two runs and complied two RBIs. Keahi finished with a run scored and one RBI.
For Fukushima, her first inning home run to center field tied the conference lead with nine so far on the season. She has been on a offensive tear as she rocked her fourth home run in three games.
Ashely Allen,
Marisa Lerma and
Emilie Portesi all completed the game with a hit and a run scored as the Pioneers scored in double figures for the third consecutive game.
Bailee Glover started the game on the mound and went 2.0 innings with one strikeout.
Olivia McWhorter also tossed 2.0 innings giving no earned runs with one walk and one retired batter.
Abby Greer led East Bay going 3.0 innings with no earned runs, no walks and one strikeout.
The Pioneers are now batting .297 as a team with 22 homers, second in the CCAA after outscoring the Toros 43-24 over the four game series. The squad returns home to host the Stanislaus State next weekend as they currently sit sixth in the conference standing with a three game win streak.
