East Bay Closes Road Season With 4-0 Loss to Stanislaus State

TURLOCK, Calif., -- The Pioneer women's soccer team was shutout 4-0 by Stanislaus State on their last California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) road game of the 2017 season on Sunday morning, October 22 at Warrior Stadium.
 
With the loss the Pioneers move to 4-11-1 on the season and 1-8-1 in CCAA play.
 
CSUEB ran into a streaking Stan State squad that was now won five straight conference matches as the Warriors finished the 2017 season unbeaten at home.
 
The Pioneers were aggressive with their opportunities early in the game as junior Savannah Schultz (Folsom, Calif.,) almost converted on a goal in the 11th minute of action.  After that It was all Warriors.
 
Stanislaus State got on the board first in 33rd minute to claim a 1-0 lead at the intermission.
 
Stan State would add three more goals to their lead in the second half. The Warriors scored their second and third goals back-to-back in the 54th and 58th. Stan State put in their final goal of the afternoon in the 86th minute to come away with the 4-0 victory.
 
The shot count was nearly even in the first half as East Bay complied six to just five from the Warriors.  The Warriors out-shot the Pioneers 12-4 in the second half en route to the 17-10 shot-advantage.
 
Savannah Schultz led CSUEB with four shot on the afternoon. Abby Buitrago tallied two shots and Nae'lani O'Neal, Lauren McDougal, Janelle Herrera and Miranda Gonzalez all attempted one shot apiece.
 
Sophomore Cheyanne Foster recorded a career best seven saves after logging all 90 minutes in the net.
 
Cal State East Bay will return home with matches against UC San Diego on October 26 at 7:00 pm and Cal State San Marcos on October 28 at 2:00 p.m. to close out the 2017 regular season.
