LA JOLLA, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay softball team swept its doubleheader on the road at No. 25 ranked UC San Diego on Saturday to earn a split of the four-game series against the Tritons.
Sierra Clark pitched a two-hit shutout in game one, and
Gabby Gonzalez broke a scoreless tie in the seventh innings with an RBI single to plate the game's only run.
The afternoon contest was not nearly as dramatic, as the Pioneers jumped out to a 5-0 lead before hanging eight runs on the scoreboard in the last inning to earn a 13-1 victory.
Tatiana Beilstein allowed just one run on six hits in a complete game effort, wrapping up a dominant day by East Bay's hurlers.
Clark and
Rose Marston both went 3-for-5 at the dish in the second game, leading a Pioneer offense that broke out for 19 hits. CSUEB improves to 11-18 overall and 8-14 in conference play, snapping a six-game losing skid with Saturday's doubleheader sweep.
