SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- The Cal State East Bay cross country teams competed in their final regular season meet of the Fall season on Saturday, running at annual Santa Clara Bronco Invitational at Baylands Regional Park.
With California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Championships next weekend in Ontario, the Pioneers did not run any of their athletes set to compete at the conference meet.
There was still a lot on the line, however, particularly on the men's side. With nine of the 10 spots on the CCAA Championship roster set, the rest of the CSUEB men's squad competed to earn that 10th position.Â
East Bay ended up placing 12th among non-Division I teams in the Men's Open race. Sophomore
Jesus Leon claimed that last trip to Ontario, leading the Pioneers with a 48th place overall finish and an 8k time of  26:41.2.
His twin brother
Esteban Leon was the team's second finisher in 62nd place with a time of 26:51.7. The Leons were followed by senior
Kyle Fetter in 83rd (27:25.3), junior
Zach Kanlong in 115th (28:04.4), senior
Noah Siegel in 139th (28:39.8), and sophomore
Cameron Olson in 145th (28:45.0).Â
On the women's side, just one runner competed with the rest of the team already set for the conference championships. Junior transfer
Kenia Rendon placed 120th with a time of 25:59.7 to represent the Pioneers in the Women's 6k Open race.
