East Bay Embarks on Trip to Southern California

WHITTER, Calif. – Cal State East Bay women's water polo will play back-to-back doubleheaders starting on Sunday, March 22. The Pioneers will face Division III squads Whittier and Occidental at the Slade Aquatics Center before heading to Chapman on Monday to take on the host Panthers and Concordia-Irvine.

Cal State East Bay (6-12) will open its trip against host Whittier (13-8) a team currently tied for the top spot in the latest Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III rankings. The Poets have previously defeated Cal State Monterey Bay and Sonoma State, both members of the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA), this season.

Occidental (1-15) is the first of two straight opponents on the weekend schedule in which Cal State East Bay has previously faced the season. The Pioneers cruised to a 17-4 victory over the Tigers down in Thousand Oaks on March 1.

Chapman (7-9) hung tough with Cal State East Bay before the Pioneers pulled away in the fourth quarter for a 13-9 victory. The 10 a.m. start between these two teams on Monday, March 23, at the Allred Aquatics Center will be streamed live online.

CSUEB will close out its trip against Concordia-Irvine (6-12) on Monday afternoon. The Golden Eagles are looking for their first win against a WWPA foe after dropping decisive decisions to Cal State Monterey Bay and Sonoma State on March 8.
