Box Score: CSUEB 17, OXY 4 - FBox Score: CSUEB 13, CU 9 - FTHOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – Cal State East Bay's offense went to work on Sunday at the Tina Finali Invitational scoring a season-high 17 goals in its morning win over Occidental. The Pioneers pulled away late in their weekend finale with a 13-9 victory over Chapman at the Samuelson Aquatic Center.
Cal State East Bay 17, Occidental 4 – FOlivia Mackell,
Tori Dettloff and
Katelyn Clark scored within a 74-second stretch of the opening quarter to put Cal State East Bay ahead 3-0. It was the first of a game-high four goals for Dettloff who was one of four different Pioneers to score multiple goals.
Ten different East Bay players contributed to the team's 17 goals including three from
Alyssa Hess. After
Taylor Cross netted a natural hat trick on Saturday, Hess did so on Sunday with three consecutive interrupted third quarter goals to put East Bay out front 12-3.

Shelbie Higginson,
Nayiri Kechichian,
Jenn Lightbody, and Cross all scored in the victory. They were part of a group that was nearly flawless in player advantage chances, converting on 5-of-6 in the match.
East Bay goalkeeper
Miranda Diehm made nine saves and held the Tigers to only one goal in each of the four quarters. She surrendered only one even strength score as OXY converted three of its 10 power play chances into goals.
Katie Gibbs led Occidental with two first half goals in the loss. Kyla Houck and Nina Wheeler each scored for the Tigers. Anna DeGroot and Kelly Fitzgerald combined to make eight stops in goal.
Cal State East Bay 13, Chapman 9 – FCal State East Bay ended the drama late in the fourth quarter scoring three unanswered goals over the final 3:32 for the win. The Pioneers got a tough test from the Panthers after trailing 3-2 at the end of the first quarter.
The CSUEB defense held Chapman scoreless for more than 11 minutes of action including a shutout second quarter. Kechichian tied the game early in the second, and Rushforth scored two goals in the final 39 seconds before halftime to put the Pioneers ahead 5-3.
Mackell completed the 4-0 scoring run early in the third. The Pioneers would lead by as many as four midway through the third quarter, but the Panthers would not go quietly.
CU's Kate Avery scored her team-high third goal of the game on the opening possession of the fourth quarter to make pull within one. Teammate Emily Fong made did the same with 3:58 remaining creating a 10-9 score, but that was the final Chapman goal of the game.
Cal State East Bay (6-9) will compete at the Aggie Shootout on Saturday, March 7. The Pioneers will take on host No. 13 UC Davis and Santa Clara at the Schaal Aquatics Center.
