HAYWARD, Calif. – Cal State East Bay women's water polo will host Cal State Monterey Bay on Saturday, Jan. 24, at Noon. The heated conference rivalry included all three games being decided by a single goal with two needing overtime to determine a victor.
Cal State Monterey Bay (0-4) faced off against four NCAA Division I programs at the LouStrong Memorial Tournament hosted by San Jose State. It was the same event Cal State East Bay (1-1) picked up a 12-2 win over Fresno Pacific in its season opener.
The Otters are looking for payback from last year's Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) semifinal game. The Pioneers never trailed in a 5-4 decision to advance to the WWPA Tournament final for the first time in program history.
Bre Ritter,
Jenn Lightbody,
Olivia Mackell, and
Taylor Cross each scored in that triumph with former senior
Allison Zell netting the game-winner late in the fourth quarter. The first four Pioneers are looking to make it three straight wins over the Otters dating back to last season.
From outside Pioneer Pool to inside Pioneer Gym, the East Bay basketball teams will host Cal State Stanislaus in a women's and men's doubleheader starting at 5:30 p.m. The basketball games will also be broadcast live on
pioneerwebtv.com.
