Interbay Stadium • Seattle, Wash.Live Stats BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Cal State East Bay will play a pair of contests in the state of Washington starting on Saturday, Sept. 13. The Pioneers will compete outside the state of California for the first time since a joint trip with the women's team to Hawaii in 2010.
"We're really excited to go north to Washington for our next two games. We haven't traveled out-of-state since 2010 and this should be a great experience for our student-athletes," said East Bay Head Coach
Andy Cumbo. "Many of them have never been to the state of Washington so the guys will be gaining a lot, both on and off the field through this experience."
Western Washington (1-1-0) will host Cal State East Bay (0-1-1) for a Saturday night tilt at Orca Field on the campus of Whatcom Community College. The Vikings are coming off a 2013 campaign in which they finished 11-4-3 overall and capped off the season with a 3-0 win over then-nationally ranked No. 2 Simon Fraser.
Interbay Stadium will be the site for Monday evening's matchup against Seattle Pacific (1-0-1). The Falcons finished last season with a NCAA Tournament appearance. The Falcons were bounced following a 1-0 loss to Chico State in a first round playoff matchup.
SPU has faced two California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) opponents to open the season. The Falcons earned an opening day 1-0 victory over Humboldt State (Sept. 4) and finished in a 1-1 double overtime draw with No. 16 ranked Chico State (Sept. 6).
"Western Washington and Seattle Pacific are two very competitive teams in the region and we're looking forward to playing them. Our focus on the field will be to continue to develop our play on both sides of the ball and prepare for conference play," stated Cumbo. "Things are coming together and we're making progress. Everyone on this team is working very hard for each other."
