NAMPA, Idaho – On Thursday, Sept. 11, Cal State East Bay women's soccer will play an official contest outside of California for the first time in more than four years. The Pioneers face Central Washington (Sept. 11) and Northwest Nazarene (Sept. 13) on the NNU campus located in Nampa, Idaho.

"The team is very excited for this road trip to Nampa. Not only is it another opportunity to play, it's a chance to clear the bad taste in our mouth after not winning our game against Notre Dame de Namur (this past Sunday)," said East Bay Head Coach Amy Gerace. "In addition to the games, the players always enjoy their time together on the road.  A lot of team bonding occurs on these trips and we have some fun things planned for them."

The aforementioned three squads will be joined by Dominican (0-2-0) over the upcoming week. Cal State East Bay (1-1-0) is the lone team with a victory this season entering Thursday.

The Pioneers will face a pair of Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC) opponents starting with Central Washington (0-2-0) at 2 p.m. on Thursday. It is expected to be 62 degrees at NNU Soccer Field at the opening whistle according to Google weather at the time of release.

CSUEB is the third consecutive California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) squad the Wildcats will face to open the 2014 season. CWU dropped road contests to Cal State Monterey Bay and No. 8 ranked Cal State Stanislaus by 1-0 and 6-1 margins, respectively.

The last time Cal State East Bay (1-1-0) and Central Washington (0-2-0) met resulted in a 3-2 Pioneers victory back on Oct. 11, 2006, in Hayward. The Pioneers have not previously faced Northwest Nazarene (0-1-1) under Gerace during her 13-plus years as coach.

NNU will make its official home debut against the Pioneers after playing its first two games out of state to start the season. The Crusaders surrendered three second half goals in their opener to Regis (Sept. 4) and played to a scoreless double overtime tie against Colorado Christian (Sept. 6).
