SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Cal State East Bay women's water polo closed out its weekend in Santa Clara on Sunday dropping a 10-3 decision to Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) foe UC San Diego, and a 12-10 result to the host Broncos at the Sullivan Aquatic Center on Sunday.

#13 UC San Diego 10, Cal St. East Bay 3 – F
The Pioneer offense was held to its lowest scoring output in over a month as the Tritons stormed through its first three games in WWPA play. No. 13 ranked UC San Diego (22-10, 3-0 WWPA) took down Sonoma State and Cal State Monterey Bay by identical 15-6 scores to open league play.

All three East Bay goals came courtesy of 6-on-5 chances. Taylor Cross converted a late first quarter opportunity to pull the Pioneers within a 2-1 score. Julia Charlesworth put away chances in the second and third quarter to lead CSUEB with two goals in the game.

UCSD's Sarah Lizotte and Jolene Guiliana scored four goals apiece in the victory. Goalkeeper Courtney Miller was credited with eight saves in the victory. CSUEB goalkeeper Marrina Nation made seven stops against the Tritons.

#18 Santa Clara 12, Cal St. East Bay 10 – F
A back-and-forth battle early on included four lead changes and five tied scores throughout the first two-plus quarters. Allison Zell and Cross opened the second quarter with back-to-back goals to break a 2-2 tie at the end of one quarter.

Santa Clara (13-10) responded with three goals of its own from Elle Surber, Claire Eadington, and Julia Peters to take a 5-4 lead. After falling behind again 6-5 the Broncos scored four unanswered to take a 9-6 lead with 4:31 left in regulation.

SCU earned an 11-6 edge in drawn ejections. After opening the contest 0-for-3 in 6-on-5 chances, the Broncos converted eight straight player advantage chances.

Cal State East Bay (13-13) will be on the road on Friday, April 11, at Sonoma State (7-18).
