HAYWARD, Calif. – The Cal State East Bay women's water polo team will play its final home game of the 2014 season on Saturday, April 5, when it hosts nationally ranked No. 17 Michigan. The Wolverines will be the first of three straight nationally ranked opponents the Pioneers will face this weekend including No. 13 UC San Diego and No. 18 Santa Clara on Sunday.

Seniors Sara Hudyn, Julia Charlesworth, and Allison Zell will compete in the final game at Pioneer Pool of their collegiate careers. The trio will be honored during pre-game ceremonies prior to the start of Saturday's game.

"It's weird. I have been playing here four years and never thought the day would come when I would be done," stated Hudyn. "It is bitter sweet, but it'll be a fun day."

"I remember watching the seniors my freshman year and thinking 'I'm never going to make it,' and I finally did. It's crazy," said Charlesworth. "I'm excited to play Michigan in our final home game. It'll be an exciting game," added Zell.

The Pioneers will then head to the city of Santa Clara to take on Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) member UC San Diego, followed by the host Broncos as part of a Sunday doubleheader.

"I'm excited and looking forward to the game against Michigan. It was a very close game to the end, and I think it is a winnable game. I am looking forward to seeing what our team can do against them," said Hudyn. "We are looking to get a win against a Division I opponent this season. We have beaten Santa Clara in the past, and they are doing really well this year. It would be nice to have a good game and get a win," said Hudyn.

"Since my freshman year we haven't beaten UC San Diego. It's always a close game and it would be great to beat them," commented Charlesworth. Zell added, "We seem to always bring our best game when we play UCSD and Santa Clara. We hope that happens again."
