UC San Diego (26-10) put the game away early on scoring seven unanswered goals to spark a 14-1 run over the opening three quarters of play. Cal State East Bay's Jennifer Lightbody converted a 6-on-5 opportunity into a goal following the team's first drawn exclusion late in the opening frame.

UCSD junior Jolene Guiliana led all players with five goals in the title game and was named the WWPA Tournament Most Valuable Player along with a First Team designation. CSUEB senior Allison Zell and junior goalkeeper Marrina Nation joined her as First Team selections. Senior Sara Hudyn capped off her collegiate career with a WWPA All-Tournament Second Team pick.

Casey Rushforth led the Pioneers with two fourth quarter goals. Nation was credited with 10 saves in the loss. UCSD's Courtney Miller equaled that effort in her start before being replaced late in the contest.
