Tournament Website LA JOLLA, Calif. – Cal State East Bay will open the Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) Championships on Friday, April 25, at the Canyonview Aquatic Center on the campus of UC San Diego. The No. 3 seed Pioneers will take on No. 4 Sonoma State at Noon with the winner earning a berth into the tournament semifinals on Saturday.

2014 WWPA ChampionshipsFriday will be the fourth meeting this season between Cal State East Bay and Sonoma State. The Pioneers have won the previous three encounters by margins of one, two, and three goals respectively.
Cal State East Bay, Cal State Monterey Bay, and Sonoma State each finished with identical 2-2 records in WWPA action. The Otters were randomly drawn as the No. 2 seed and will face No. 5 Cal State San Bernardino in the other Friday semifinal immediately following the CSUEB-SSU tournament opener.
The winners of Friday's contests will meet in the first of two Saturday semifinals scheduled for 1 p.m. The losers will meet at 11 a.m. on Saturday in an elimination game. The winner will then face top seed and tournament host UC San Diego in the other semifinal scheduled for a 3 p.m. opening whistle.
